Truth Transcends Culture

During the weekend of January 27-29 I was in Visalia, CA for a leadership convention and was reminded of something wonderful. I had the privilege of learning from some of the top leaders in North America about topics ranging from creating good habits, to game plans for success, belief, love of this country, and faith in Jesus.

What I was reminded of as I listened to these proven leaders was that Truth transcends culture. It is something that became very real to me as I traveled to Nepal in the late 1990’s. Of the leaders we gained wisdom from, some were not originally from the United States. One gentleman is originally from Guatemala and his wife is from Mexico. Another man is from India and yet another is Tongan. A diverse group to say the least.

As these men and women shared from their hearts about a wide range of topics, I remembered what Truth can do. Truth unites people in a fight for integrity and character. Truth says, as one speaker encouraged, “You must have the love of Christ in your heart if you want to be successful…” Truth confronts mis-truths and blatant lies as we learned about the things that really matter in life. Truth creates thanksgiving for the blessings in our life, because is points to the One who blessed us in the first place. And regardless of what one’s cultural background is, Truth transcends it.

Truth is impartial. Truth enlightens. It is for everyone and against no one. Truth ‘s arms are open to anyone humble enough to embrace it. It is not concerned with a person’s past, their struggles, sins, or heritage. It is free for anyone willing to accept it and confront the brutal realities of any lies that may have permeated one’s thinking, keeping them from it. Truth is for people. All people. And it works for people. All people. Truth is eternal. And Truth does not change.

A person may choose to ignore Truth, but time will always prove Truth to be exactly what it is, true. It cannot be escaped. It cannot be manipulated. It is as foundational as the One who embodies it.

I hope and I pray that you, the reader, find Truth. For it is the knowledge of the Truth that will set you free. It waits to be found.

For the Lord is good;
His mercy is everlasting,
And His truth endures to all generations.

Psalm 100:5
